Justification: Being Declared Right With God

1.  If we are sinful by nature, then how is it possible to be saved?
The Bible says in John 3:16  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life.”

2.  The salvation process is essentially one of substitution.
The Bible says in Isaiah 53:4-6,11  “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our Sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all”…. “He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.  By His knowledge, My righteous Servant shall justify Many, for He shall bear their iniquities.”

3.  It is only through Christ’s shed blood that forgiveness is possible.
The Bible says in Ephesians 1:7  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, The forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,” and in Hebrews 9:12 And Hebrews 9:22 it says;  “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be Cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” and “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

4.  Jesus did not deserve to die, but He died so that we might live.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21  “For He made Him who knew no sin to be Sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

5.  Not only are we saved by Jesus perfect death, but also by His perfect Life.
The Bible says in Romans 5:18-19  “Therefore, as through one man’s offense Judgement came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one mans Righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.”

6.  Even though we are unrighteous, Christ covers us with His spotless robe Of righteousness.
The Bible says in Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our Righteousness is like filthy rags: we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. And in Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul Shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothes me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself With ornaments, As a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

7.  We can’t earn it, we accept Christ’s totally sufficient work of salvation.
The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9  “For by grace you have been saved through faith And that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, least anyone should Boast.”

8.  The Christian must rest in Christ’s completed work of salvation.
The Bible says in Hebrews 4:9-10  “There remains therefor a rest for the people Of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works As God did from His.”

9.  The result of being declared righteous (Justification) is peace with God.
The Bible says in Romans 5:1  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
