Heaven

Heaven

1.  God has promised His people a special, amazing place that they will actually Live in someday.
The bible say’s in Hebrews 11:16  “But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly Country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared A city for them.”

2.  We look forward to the day when Jesus will take us to this place called Heaven.

The Bible say’s in John 14:1-3  ” Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, Believe also in me.  In my Fathers house are many mansions; If it were not so, I would Have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for You, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may Be also.”

3.  Heaven is most incredible

The Bible say’s in Isaiah 65:17,19, 21-25  “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. The former shall not be remembers and not come to mind. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people, the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice or crying. They shall build houses and inhabit them, they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit, they shall not plant and another eat, for as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people. And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall no labor in vain, no bring forth children for trouble, for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall no hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, ” says the Lord.

Let’s look at some of the biblical descriptions of heaven.

4. A picture of the heavenly city and life there.

The bible says in revelation 21:9-22:5  “Then one of the seven angels who have the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come. I will show you the bride, the lamb’s wife.” And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven, having the glory of God.

Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the lamb. And he who talked with me had a gold reed measure the city. Its gates, and its wall. The city is laid out as a square, its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. Then he measured it’s wall: One hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. The construction of the wall was of jasper, and the city was pure gold, like pure glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second was sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh is chrysolite, the eighth is beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jancith, and the twelfth is amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord god almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it, its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there.) And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination, or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

And he showed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of the street, and on either side of the river was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him. They shall see his face, and his name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp, nor light of the sun, for the Lord Gold gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

5.  Most importantly, heaven will be where God is. And we will never again      Experience the horrible curse of sin.

The Bible say’s in Revelation 21:1-4  “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.  Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I herd a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself shall be with them and be their God.  “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

6.  Heaven will be more incredible that we could ever imagine, even in our wildest imaginations.

The Bible say’s in 1 Corinthians 2:9  “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

7.  God invites us to choose Him and His ways so that we might be able to inherit His Heavenly Kingdom!

The Bible say’s in Matthew 25:34  “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”  And in Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”

Signs Of The Second Coming

1.  There are certain signs that are intended to cause us to realize the nearness of  Christ’s second coming.
The Bible says in Luke 21:28  “Now when these things begin to happen, look up And life up your heads. because your redemption draws near.”

2.  No man knows when the second coming is going to be. But there are general Signs.
The Bible says in Matthew 24:36  “But of that day and hour no man knows, not Even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

3.  Fear among people.
The Bible say’s in Luke 21:23  “men’s hearts failing them for fear and the expectation Of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will Be shaken.”

4.  Moral laxness and an unhealthy appetite for pleasure.
The Bible say’s in 2 Timothy 3:1-4  “But know this, that in the last days perilous Times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, Proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, thankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, Slanders, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of good.”

5.  False Peace.
The Bible say’s in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3  “But concerning the times and the seasons Brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know Perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains on a Pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.”

6.  Materialism
The Bible say’s in James 5:1-3  “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your Miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments Are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a Witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire.  You have heaped up treasure n the last Days.”

7.  Scoffers
The Bible say’s in 2 Peter 3:3-5  “knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the Last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise Of His coming?  For since the Fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were From the beginning of creation.”  For this they willfully forget: that by the word Of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,”

8.  Wars/Strife.
The Bible say’s in Matthew 24:6  “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end Not yet.”

9.  Knowledge greatly increased and frantic way of life.
The Bible say’s in Daniel 12:4  “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the Book until the time of the end, many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall Increase.”

10.  What must take place before Christ’s returns.
The Bible say’s in Matthew 24:14  “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached In all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

11.  Since we have no idea when the exact time of Christ’s coming will be, then we  Must be spiritually prepared.
The Bible say’s in Mark 13:33-37  “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not Know when the time is.  It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house And gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.  Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the House is coming-in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the Morning-Lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.  And what I say to you, I Say to all: Watch!”

Sanctification: A Lifetime Of Spiritual Growing

1.  God has planned that spiritual growth (sanctification) be an essential aspect Of the experience of salvation.
The Bible says in 2 Thessalonians 2:23  “But we are bound to give thanks to God Always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning Choose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.”

2.  This lesson will focus mainly on the Bible teaching of “progressive sanctification” Christ’s work within someone during their lifetime.
The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:2  ” Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood Of Jesus Christ.”

3.  At conversion, when the Holy Spirit comes in the believer, his or her life has a new direction.
The Bible says in Romans 6:6  “Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be Slaves of sin.”

4.  We become a new creature.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; Behold, all things have become new.”

5.  Sin remains (in part), but no longer reigns in our lives.
“For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives He Lives to God.  Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to To God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

6.  The believer begins to grow ever more Christ-like in thought and action.
I say then: walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.  For the Flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary To one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.  Now the works of the flesh are evident, Which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, Contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, Envy, Murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, Just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not Inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, Faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

7.  It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can grow spiritually.
The Bible says in Ephesians 3:16  “That He would grant you, according to the Riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in your Inner man.”

8.  The sanctification process requires an ongoing yielding to Christ.
The Bible says in Romans 12:1-2  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the Mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable To God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of Your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will Of God.

Justification: Being Declared Right With God

1.  If we are sinful by nature, then how is it possible to be saved?
The Bible says in John 3:16  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life.”

2.  The salvation process is essentially one of substitution.
The Bible says in Isaiah 53:4-6,11  “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our Sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all”…. “He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.  By His knowledge, My righteous Servant shall justify Many, for He shall bear their iniquities.”

3.  It is only through Christ’s shed blood that forgiveness is possible.
The Bible says in Ephesians 1:7  “In Him we have redemption through His blood, The forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,” and in Hebrews 9:12 And Hebrews 9:22 it says;  “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be Cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” and “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

4.  Jesus did not deserve to die, but He died so that we might live.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21  “For He made Him who knew no sin to be Sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

5.  Not only are we saved by Jesus perfect death, but also by His perfect Life.
The Bible says in Romans 5:18-19  “Therefore, as through one man’s offense Judgement came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one mans Righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.”

6.  Even though we are unrighteous, Christ covers us with His spotless robe Of righteousness.
The Bible says in Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our Righteousness is like filthy rags: we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. And in Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul Shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothes me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself With ornaments, As a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

7.  We can’t earn it, we accept Christ’s totally sufficient work of salvation.
The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9  “For by grace you have been saved through faith And that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, least anyone should Boast.”

8.  The Christian must rest in Christ’s completed work of salvation.
The Bible says in Hebrews 4:9-10  “There remains therefor a rest for the people Of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works As God did from His.”

9.  The result of being declared righteous (Justification) is peace with God.
The Bible says in Romans 5:1  “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Bible, Gods Word To Man

1.  One of the most important questions that any Christian can ask is “What is Gods truth for me?”
The Bible says in John 17:17   Sanctify them by thy truth. Your word is truth. So as we learn what the truth of God is, in His Holy Word “The Bible” and if we choose to apply it to our lives we will become sanctified by it.  The definition of the word “Sanctify” is:  To set apart to a sacred purpose, or declare holy, consecrate, To free from sin.

2.  How should one approach the Bible?
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15  Be diligent to present yourselves approved of God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

3.  The Bible is kind of like a puzzle. One must compare verse with verse to get the Complete picture.
The Bible says in Isaiah 28:9,10  “Whom will he teach knowledge?  And whom will He make to understand the message?  Those just weaned from milk?  Those just drawn From the breast? For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon Line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.”

4.  Every human teaching must be tested by the Bible.
The Bible says in Acts 17:11   “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”

5.  What kind of things is the Bible useful for?
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:15-17  “and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for Doctrine, for reproof, for correction in righteousness, that the man of God may be Complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

6.  How does the Old Testament contribute to our Christian Faith?
The Bible says in Luke 24:44-45  “Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”  And He  opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.”

7.  Where did the Bible come from?
The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:19-21
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed.
which you do well to head as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

8.  It is not enough to merely have a knowledge about the Bible.  What must we do?
The Bible says in John 5:39-40 and Luke 11:28  “You search the Scriptures, for in Them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of me.” “But you are not willing to come to me that you may have life. But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and Keep it!”

9.  Spiritual insight into Scripture only comes through the Holy Spirits Enlightenment.
“These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which The Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; Nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Seventh Day Sabbath

The Sabbath is Blessed
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which he had made.”
Genesis 2:2-3

Sabbath a Shadow of Something Greater
“Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. Which are a shadow of things to come: but the body is of Christ.”
Colossians 2:16-17

Sabbath a Sign Forever
“Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout there generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”
Exodus 31:16-17

Sabbath 4th Commandment
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
Exodus 20:8-11

Lord of the Sabbath
“And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.”

Sabbath Day of Solomon Rest
“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.”

The Disciples Rested on Sabbath, Jesus Rested in the Tomb
“And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment…”

“After the sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.  His appearance was like lightening, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the woman, ” Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place were he lay.”
Luke 23:56 , Matthew 28:1-6

Sabbath a Sign between God and His People
“Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them…And hollow my sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

Sabbath a Delight
If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 58:13-14

Sabbath a Day For Prayer
“And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, were prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.”

“And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that which ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.”
Exodus 16:23

Ok To Get Your Needs Met on The Sabbath
“And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?  And he said unto them, have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungered, he, and they that were with him?  How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with them?  And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not an for the sabbath. Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.”

It’s Lawful To Heal On The Sabbath
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.  And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefor come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.  The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?  And out not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loose from this bound on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.”
Luke 13:10-17

It’s Lawful To Do Well On The Sabbath
“How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath days.”
Matthew 12:12

Buy And Sell Six Days But Not On The Sabbath
“In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes. and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.  There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.  Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath.  And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. So the merchants and sellers of all kinds of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? If ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more upon the sabbath. And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day.”
Nehemiah 13:15-22

Sabbath From Sunset to Sunset
“And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”

Jesus Talks About Sabbath Describing Signs Of His Second Coming
“But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day. For then Shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Sabbath Will Be Kept In Heaven
“For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.”

Know ye therefor that they which are of faith, the same the children of Abraham.  And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed. “ For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”
Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV)

“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by [b]my work You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.”
